Opening
The law of life is love unto all beings. Without love, life is nothing, without love, death has no redemption. Love is anterior to Life, posterior to Death, initial of Creation and the exponent of Earth. If we learn no more in life, let it be this. Marriage is a bond to be entered into only after considerable thought and reflection. As with any aspect of life, it has its cycles, its ups and its downs, its trials and its triumphs. With full understanding of this, James and Elizabeth have come here today to be joined as one in marriage. Others would ask, at this time, who gives the bride in marriage, but, as a woman is not property to be bought and sold, given and taken, I ask simply if she comes of her own will. |
[Baybe] Yes, it is true.
[Khaos] James, will you take this woman, whose hands you hold, choosing her alone to be your wedded wife? Will you live with her in the state of true matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, through good times and bad, in sickness and in health, honor and protect her at all times, and be faithful to her? [James] I do [Khaos] Elizabeth, will you take this man, whose hands you hold, choosing him alone to be your wedded husband? Will you live with him in the state of true matrimony? Will you love him, comfort him, through good times and bad, in sickness and in health, honor and obey him at all times, and be faithful to him? [Baybe] I do
|
[Khaos] As you take these preliminary vows, James and Elizabeth, I would have you remember: To love is to come together from the pathways of our past and then move forward...Hand in hand, along the uncharted roads of our future, ready to risk, to dream, and to dare.... And always believe that all things are possible with faith and love in God, and in each other. |
I James, take you Elizabeth to be my wife, to love and cherish, from this day forward, as long as we both shall live. [James] repeats
|
[Khaos] I, Elizabeth, take you James, to be my husband, to love and to cherish, from this day forward, as long as we both shall live. [Baybe] repeats [Khaos] I understand you have brought rings as a token of your sincerity and have some things you wish to say to one another… Elizabeth, what have you to say to James?
|
[Baybe]
Like a baby sparrow you let me try my wings
You were always there to pick me up, hold me, and dust off my ruffled wings.
I now realize where I belong. I now kneel before you. (kneels on pillow) |
I surrender to you my friend, lover Daddy and Master all of my power and control.
I give to you Master my mind, my heart ,my soul and my body.
To you I consentually submit.
Please Master, please accept this ring as a symbol of your ownership of me.
Make me yours until my last breath leaves my lips.
Please Master allow me the honor to fulfill all of your wants and needs and desires
Please Master guide me to be more than I think I can be,
Please Master punish this girl when you deem fit.
[James] I will
|
[Khaos] Elizabeth, will you repeat after me as you place the ring on his finger:
With this ring, I thee wed. Let it ever be to us a symbol of our love. [Baybe] Repeats [Khaos] James, What have you to say to Elizabeth? |
[James]
I loved you so much that I gave you the space to spread your wings.
I have and will always be here for you when you need someone to lean on.
I protect you and care for you as a Master should for his slave.
|
I give you this ring, my slave as a symbol and token of my Ownership and love. Not only as your Master, but as you life Partner.
I stretch out my wings now and forever to enfold you, to protect you, as you deserve to be protected. |
[Khaos] James, will you repeat after me as you place the ring on her finger:
With this ring, I thee wed. Let it ever be to us a symbol of our love. [James] Repeats
From: Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet
Then Almitra spoke again and said, And what of Marriage, Master?
|
Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.
Rose Ceremony [Khaos] (Hands Baybe the vase) This is a day steeped in tradition, a time when we are surrounded by symbols: Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. Today, Elizabeth and James begin a new tradition, a custom which now becomes uniquely their own. [James] (takes rose from bouquet) Elizabeth, I give you this rose. Because it grew from a tiny seed, becoming stronger and larger until it burst into flower, it symbolizes the way my love for you has grown.
|
(gives her the rose) Each year on our wedding anniversary, I will give you another rose. In so doing, I will remember this day and renew the vows we have made. |
(she puts the rose in the vase and they hold the vase together)
[James] Without water, the rose would die.
[Baybe] Without the rose, the vase of water would not be beautiful.
[James] My gift is enhanced by yours, just as my life is enhanced by yours.
[Baybe] My gift is lovely because of yours, just as my life is better because of you.
(Both hand rose in vase to Khaos)
[Khaos] On each anniversary, as you give and receive the rose and the water, remember with joy this day when you pledged your love and your lives to each other. May this be only the first of many cherished traditions in a home filled with happiness.
Unity Candles
James and Elizabeth, the two separate candles symbolize your separate lives, separate families and separate sets of friends.
(Khaos annoints & blesses candles) (James helps Baybe stand) I ask that each of you take one of the lit candles and that together you light the center candle.
|
(they light the candle) The individual candles represent your lives before today. Lighting the center candle represents that your two lives are now joined to one light, and represents the joining together of your two families and sets of friends to one. |
Pronouncement In as much as you, Elizabeth, and you James, have consented together in the union of matrimony and you have pledged your faith each to the other in the presence of God and this company, now by the authority vested in me as a minister, I now pronounce you Husband and Wife, Master and slave. |
Benediction Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter to the other. Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other. Now there is no loneliness for you. Now you are two persons, but there is only one life before you. Go this night to your dwelling place, to enter into the days of your togetherness, and may your days be good and long together. You may start your lives together with a kiss.
